A Common Voice

Byomkesh Bakshi Stories were authored by Sharadindu Bandopadhyay in the 1930s. Dibakar Banerjee and Yash Raj Film Studios were making a film based on this hero in 2015. We needed to excite the audience and support the film with our game. We read all the books we could find and had multiple meetings with the film crew to achieve a shared vision.

Substantial Evidence

The core of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is a Hidden Object Game. My writing partner, Shweta Dingwaney and I, wanted the evidence objects to reveal enough about the culprit without giving everything away. We kept reiterating the story before the art was created for the same to ensure the objects were meaningful.

Connecting The Dots

We wanted the objects to conclusively lead to the culprit and for players to experience an Aha! moment. We wanted to avoid trial and error, yet keep the experience casual and easy to solve. Hence, we connected the objects to crime-related questions and let the player connect the dots.
